Abstract：A case of acute methanol poisoning was reported. The patient was a young man, who presented with rapid consciousness disorder and metabolic acidosis with increased anion gap of unknown cause. Brain CT showed that bilateral putamen necrosis with right hemorrhage. According to CT diagnosis of acute methanol poisoning, the patient died of ineffective treatment. The paper reviewed the literature, discussed the process of methanol metabolism, the way of methanol poisoning, the incubation period, the amount of methanol, the main symptoms, the imaging manifestations and the treatment prognosis, so as to improve the understanding of the disease.
