Abstract:Objective To studythe changes and significances of platelet distribution width(PDW)and mean platelet volume (MPV) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with different syndrome classified by traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM). Methods A retrospective study was carried out to analyze the clinical data of 155 HCC patients from January 2013 to December 2016 in Liuzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. All patients was divided into four groups according to TCM syndrome: stagnation of liver-Qi, qi-stagnation and blood stasis, dampness and heat accumulation, stagnation of liver-Qi with deficiency of the spleen. The differences of PDW and MPV among different groups were analyzed. Results The level of PDW in stagnation of liver-Qi group were significantly higher than that of the other groups (P < 0.01), however, the level of MPV in stagnation of liver-Qi group was significantly lower than that of the other groups (P < 0.01). Compared with qi-stagnation and blood stasis and dampness and heat accumulation group, the level of PDW increased significantly in stagnation of liver-Qi with deficiency of the spleen group(P < 0.01), and the level of MPV in the stagnation of liver-Qi with deficiency of the spleen group were significant higher than that of the other three groups (P < 0.01). Conclusion The PDW and MPV can be used as important reference indexes for HCC patients with stagnation of liver-Qi and syndrome of stagnation of liver-Qi with deficiency of the spleen in primary
