Professor Liu Hongfang′s clinical experience in the treatment of gout nephropathy

Abstract：Gouty nephropathy is a disorder of purine metabolism which leads to hyperuricemia, and urate deposits in the kidneys cause kidney damage. After many years of clinical practice, professor Liu Hongfang believes that the heat, turbid and stasis are the pathological basis of gout nephropathy, and the yang deficiency of spleen and kidney is the basic cause of this disease. She emphasizes that the treatment must obey treating both manifestation and root cause of disease, reinforcing deficiency and reducing excess. The method is to warm up spleen and kidney, and to clear the heat, the dredge collaterals, and the transform damp turbidity. According to Zhang Jingyue′s yin and yang essence theory, professor Liu is good at using large doses of prepared rehmannia root to nourish kidney essence. It is curative for the proteinuria, hematuria, elevated serum creatinine. Besides, this paper will provide one case to support it.
