Relationship between the levels of serum IL-17, Hcy and clinicopathological features in patients with gastric cancer and its diagnostic value

Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between serum interleukin (IL)-17, homocysteine (Hcy) levels and pathological features in patients with gastric cancer and its clinical diagnostic value. Methods A total of 80 patients with gastric cancer admitted to Tangshan People′s Hospital from March 2015 to March 2017 were selected as gastric cancer group, another 80 patients with benign gastric lesions were selected as the benign lesion group, and 60 volunteers with health examination during the same period were selected as the normal control group. The serum IL-17 and Hcy levels in each group were compared, and the relationship between serum IL-17 and Hcy and pathological features in gastric cancer patients was analyzed. ROC curve was drawn to evaluate the predictive value of combined IL-17 and Hcy detection for gastric cancer. Results The serum IL-17 and Hcy levels in gastric cancer group were higher than those in the benign lesion group and the normal control group, and serum IL-17 and Hcy levels in the benign lesion group were higher than those in the normal control group (P < 0.05). The serum IL-17 and Hcy levels in the gastric cancer patients were related to infiltration depth, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage (P < 0.05). The area under the curve, sensitivity, specificity and Youden index of IL-17 combined with Hcy detection were all higher than those of IL-17 detection and Hcy detection separately (P < 0.05). Conclusion IL-17 and Hcy are highly expressed in the serum of patients with gastric cancer, which are related to the depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage of gastric cancer. Combined detection of IL-17 and Hcy can improve the diagnosis effect of early gastric cancer.
