Abstract:Objective To understand the use of oral Chinese patent medicine in Pediatric Outpatient prescription of Beijing Fengtai District Maternal and Child Health Hospital (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”), and analyze the existing problems and provide guarantee for strengthening the clinical rational and safe use. Methods Nine hundred and sixty prescriptions of oral Chinese patent medicine were randomly selected through hospital information system of our hospital from July 2018 to June 2019. According to the different ages of children, the use of drug action category, dosage form, toxic ingredients and unreasonable prescription were analyzed. Results There were 41 kinds of special oral Chinese patent medicines for children in our hospital, accounting for 19.34% of the total Chinese patent medicines in our hospital. In the prescription of oral Chinese patent medicine, action category and dosage form rank first were 329 pieces of antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic drugs (34.27%) and 18 kinds of granules (43.90%); there were 16 kinds of drugs containing toxic ingredients, including 14 kinds of oral drugs and 2 kinds of external drugs; there were 10 medicines containing bitter almonds; among them, there were 56 unreasonable prescriptions, accounting for the proportion of the prescriptions sampled 5.83%; the main problems were incomplete clinical diagnosis, inappropriate usage and dosage, inappropriate drug selection, etc. Conclusion The use of oral Chinese patent medicine in pediatrics of our hospital is generally reasonable, but because of the limitation of specialty, the Western medicine division is not reasonable in the use of Chinese patent medicine, so it is necessary to strengthen the training of Chinese medicine knowledge of Western medicine division to ensure that Chinese patent medicine is more reasonable and safe in the clinical use of pediatrics.
