Effect of Modified Duhuo Jisheng Decoction combined with Celecoxib in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Modified Duhuo Jisheng Decoction combined with Celecoxib in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods One hundred and nine patients with KOA admitted to the First Hospital of Zhangjiakou City from October 2016 to August 2019 were selected, they were divided into control group (n = 54) and study group (n = 55) according to random number table method. Control group was treated with Celecoxib Capsules and study group was treated with Modified Duhuo Jisheng Decoction. After 30 days of treatment, clinical efficacy, pain status, knee joint function and related cytokines of two groups were compared. The occurrence of adverse reactions during treatment of two groups was recorded. Results Total clinical effective rate of study group was higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). After 30 days of treatment, VAS score of two groups was lower than that before treatment, while the knee joint function score was higher than that before treatment (P < 0.05). After 30 days of treatment, VAS score of study group was lower than that of control group and the knee joint function score was higher than that of control group (P < 0.05). After 30 days of treatment, the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, MMP-3 and SOD in two groups were lower than those before treatment (P < 0.05). After 30 days of treatment, the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, MMP-3 and SOD in study group were lower than those in control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion The effect of Modified Duhuo Jisheng Decoction in the treatment of KOA is definite, which can effectively improve clinical symptoms and knee joint function of patients. The main mechanism may be caused by improving related cytokines.
