Study on the medication rule of cough variant asthma from the perspective of wind theory

Abstract:Objective To analyze the prescription medication rule of cough variant asthma (CVA) from the perspective of wind theory. Methods By using computer retrieval, combinated of “cough variant asthma” or “wind cough” and “treatment from wind”, “wind”, “dispelling wind” and “expelling wind”. The literatures about treating CVA from wind theory were retrieved from CNKI, VIP database, and Wanfang data knowledge service platform from January 1979 to July 2019. Then, the data was put into the software of Chinese medicine inheritance assistant platform to analyze the rule of prescription medication. Results The study eventually included 127 articles and 127 prescriptions, including 120 herbal medicine. The herbal medicine′s use and frequency was analyzed, more than 20 times were Periostracum Cicadae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Semen Armeniacae Amarum, Herba Ephedrae, etc, then the use pattern of prescription was got. Eight core drug combinations and four new candidates were found. Conclusion The prescriptions for CVA treated by wind theory are mostly used for dispersing wind and dissipating heat, dispelling wind and resolving exterior symptoms, clearing away heat and resolving wind, dispersing lung and relieving cough. Emphasis is laid on the compatibility and application of wind medicine with cough-relieving drugs, lung-promoting drugs, blood-activating and collateral-dredging drugs, etc, so as to provide reference for the clinical medication of the patients treated by wind.
