Abstract:Objective To study the influence of the hospital-basic-family three-level traditional Chinese medicine management mode on the mental resilience and quality of life of patients with advanced cancer. Methods From August 2017 to August 2018, 122 patients with advanced cancer who were discharged from the Department of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University were selected as the study objects. They were divided into the intervention group and the control group by the random number table method. During the study, 2 cases died and 4 cases were lost to follow-up. Finally, 116 patients with advanced cancer were included as the study objects, including 59 in the intervention group and 57 in the control group. After discharge, the intervention group was given the hospital-basic-family traditional Chinese medicine management mode, while the control group was given the conventional discharge management mode. Mental resilience and quality of life of parents at discharge and nine months after discharge were compared between the two groups. Results At the time of discharge, there was no statistically significant difference in the total score of mental resilience and scores of each dimension between the two groups (P > 0.05). Nine months after discharge, the total score of mental resilience and scores of each dimension in the control group showed no statistically significant difference compared with those at discharge (P > 0.05). The total score of mental resilience and scores of each dimension in the intervention group were significantly higher than those at discharge, and those in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). At the time of discharge, there was no statistically significant difference in the total score of quality of life and scores of each dimension between the two groups (P > 0.05). Nine months after discharge, there was no significant difference in the total score of quality of life and scores of each dimension between the two groups compared with those at discharge (P > 0.05). Nine months after discharge, the total score of quality of life and scores of each dimension in the intervention group were significantly higher than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion Carrying out the hospital-basic-family traditional Chinese medicine management mode can ensure the continuation and complete medical services for patients with cancer in the middle and advanced stages. Patients can maintain good compliance with the treatment and nursing measures in the hospital, improve their mental resilience after cancer, enhance their quality of life, and facilitate their long-term survival with cancer.
