Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) by evidence-based medicine. Methods CNKI, WanFang Data, VIP, PubMed databases were searched by computer, and the randomized controlled trials (RCT) on the treatment of knee osteoarthritis in traditional Chinese medicine were collected. The search time was from the establishment of the database to December 2018. After 3 researchers independently screened the literature, extracted data and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies, the RevMan 5.3 software was used for analysis. Results A total of 31 RCT were included, with a total of 3140 cases. Meta analysis showed: compared with the comprehensive treatment of Western medicine, the comprehensive treatment of traditional Chinese medicine had a better overall effective rate [OR = 4.47, 95%CI (3.57, 5.59), P < 0.000 01]. Meta analysis results of the comprehensive treatment of traditional Chinese medicine compared with the four subgroups showed that the internal and external treatment of cartilage protectant [OR = 5.62, 95%CI (2.52, 12.52), P < 0.0001], oral cartilage protectant [OR = 4.06, 95%CI (2.17, 7.61), P < 0.0001], oral NSAIDs [OR = 4.46, 95%CI (3.43, 5.80), P < 0.000 01], external use of chondroprotective agents and NSAIDs [OR = 4.04, 95%CI (1.66, 9.85), P = 0.002]. In the four subgroups, the effect of traditional Chinese medicine comprehensive treatment was the best, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion The comprehensive treatment of knee osteoarthritis by traditional Chinese medicine has good curative effect, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
