Abstract:Autophagy is a metabolic pathway in eukaryotic cells through the lysosome, including the processes of autophagosomes formation, the combination of autophagosomes and lysosomes and autophagosomes degradation. Autophagy in hypexic-ischemia brain damage is activated by different signaling pathways and its role and specific mechanism are unclear. On the one hand, autophagy plays a protective role by regulating the autophagosis-lysosome pathway or affecting apoptosis and necrosis. On the other hand, autophagy may aggravate neurons injury after ischemic/hypoxia by interfacing with apoptosis and pyroptosis. This characteristic may be related to the degree of autophagy, the stage of occurrence, and external factors.
