Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of P- glycoprotein (P-gp), multidrug resistance associated protein (MRP) and multidrug resistance associated protein (BCRP) in brain gliomas. Methods Fifty-six cases of brain glioma resected in the First People's Hospital of Wuan from July 2007 to July 2016 were selected as the observation group, and 10 normal brain tissues of brain trauma in the same period were selected as control group. The expressions of P-gp, MRP and BCRP in specimens of two groups were detected by immunohistochemistry (SP), and the relationship between the expression and clinical pathological features of glioma was analyzed. Results The P-gp, MRP, BCRP positive expression rates of the observation group was 42.86% (24/56), 76.79% (43/56), 46.43% (26/56), respectively, was significantly lower than the control group of 0% (0/10), 10% (1/10), 0% (0/10) (P < 0.01). The positive rates of P-gp, MRP and BCRP in glioma was related to the pathological stage and histological grade of glioma, the higher the pathological stage, the higher the positive expression rate of P-gp, MRP and BCRP. The lower the histological grade, the higher the positive expression rates of P-gp, MRP and BCRP, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01). Spearman rank correlation analysis showed that the positive rate of P-gp expression in glioma tissues was positively correlated with the positive rates of MRP and BCRP (Rs = 0.612, 0.537, P < 0.05). Conclusion The expressions of P-gp, MRP and BCRP are highly expressed in gliomas, and the expression level is related to the pathological stage and histological grade, and the three expressions are positively correlated.
