Advances in research on the relationship between serum uric acid and cardiovascular diseases

Abstract:Serum uric acid is a metabolite of purine. Due to the change of people′s dietary habits, the large use of some drugs, the aging of the population, the serum uric acid has increased trend. Higher levels of serum uric acid are associated with cardiovascular disease, such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and so on. This paper summarizes the relationship between serum uric acid and cardiovascular diseases and their physiological mechanism, and provides a basis for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
