Research progress in percutaneous balloon compression for trigeminal neuralgia

Abstract:Trigeminal neuralgia is one of the common diseases in functional neurosurgery. At present, there are various treatment methods for trigeminal neuralgia, and more and more scholars propose that percutaneous balloon compression has certain curative effect on the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. In addition, percutaneous balloon compression is the only surgical treatment for trigeminal neuralgia with the least trauma, the shortest time and the highest comfort under general anesthesia. In this paper, the development history, postoperative complications and surgical methods of percutaneous balloon compression in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia were reviewed to provide theoretical basis for clinical treatment.
