Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of medical cost control in public hospitals in Shandong Province, and to provide reference and suggestions for medical cost control in public hospitals. Methods The data related to outpatient and inpatient medical expenses of public hospitals in Shandong Province from 2010 to 2017 were statistically analyzed and the changes of medical expenses were analyzed. Results The average outpatient medical expenses of Shandong public hospitals increased from 167.3 yuan in 2010 to 249.3 yuan in 2017, with an average annual growth rate of 5.9%. Per capita medical and medical expenses per resident increased from 6415.9 yuan in 2010 to 9628.1 yuan, an average annual growth rate of 6.0%. From 2010 to 2017, the growth rate of outpatient and inpatient medical expenses in public hospitals in Shandong Province was reasonable. The proportion of outpatient and inpatient drugs decreased year by year, while the proportion of examination, treatment and operation expenses increased. In all levels of hospital 3 class hospital medical treatment cost is the highest, one class hospital is the lowest. Conclusion The policies and measures of medical expense control in public hospitals in Shandong Province have some effects, but they are not significant enough. It is suggested that the government actively promote relevant policy reform, increase investment and accelerate the construction of hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system. We will accelerate reform of the pharmaceutical market, establish an "economy-equity" evaluation system for benefit indicators, and effectively control medical expenses.
