Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between self-care self-efficacy and compliance of respiratory function exercise in patients with esophageal cancer after thoracotomy. Methods 120 patients with esophageal cancer underwent thoracotomy in Department of Thoracic Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiag Medical University from May 2015 to October 2016 were selected. Chinese-version self efficacy scale for cancer and respiratory function exercise compliance scale were used for investigation of patients′ self-care self-efficacy and compliance of respiratory function exercise. Pearson correlation analysis was adopted to analyze the relationship between self-care self-efficacy and respiratory function training compliance in patients with esophageal cancer after thoracotomy. Results The score of self efficacy scale was (87.5±30.3) points, the score index was 62.5%, which was in the middle level. The score of respiratory functional exercise compliance scale was (55.6±14.9) points, the score index was 58.9%, which was in the middle level. Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was no correlation between announcements compliance and self decision (P > 0.05), however, there were significantly positive correlation between respiratory training compliance, respiratory training compliance, announcements compliance, overall compliance and other items of self-care self-efficacy (P < 0.05). Conclusion The compliance of respiratory function exercise in patients with esophageal cancer after thoracotomy is poor, and nurses should enhance self-care self-efficacy of patients to improve the compliance, in order to improve the pulmonary function.
