Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between serum level of interleukin-1β(IL-1β), matrix Gla protein (MGP) and cardiac valve calcification (CVC) in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods Eighty patients who received MHD treatment in Sanya People′s Hospital of Hainan Province from January 2016 to November 2018 were selected as the study subjects and recorded as the observation group. Patients were divided into CVC group (n = 37) and non-CVC group (n = 43) according to whether they had CVC or not. Another 80 volunteers who received health examination during the same period were selected as the control group. The clinical data of the two groups was counted and compared. The clinical data of the subgroup in observation group was analyzed. The correlation between IL-1β, MGP and age, dialysis age was analyzed. The influencing factor of CVC in MHD patients were calculated by Logistic regression analysis. Results The ratio of CVC and the level of IL-1β in the observation group were higher those that in the control group, while the level of MGP was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.01). Age, dialysis age and IL-1β level in CVC group were higher than those in non-CVC group, while MGP level was lower than that in non-CVC group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Pearson analysis showed that, IL-1β was positively correlated with age and dialysis age (r = 0.614, 0.679, all P < 0.05), while MGP was negatively correlated with age and dialysis age (r = -0.702, -0.715, all P < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that, IL-1β≥160 pg/mL (OR = 1.244,95%CI: 1.021-4.820,P < 0.01), dialysis age≥30 months (OR = 1.319,95%CI: 1.039-10.512,P < 0.05) and MGP<2.55 ng/mL (OR = 1.108,95%CI: 1.007-11.287,P < 0.01) were risk factors for CVC in MHD patients. Conclusion Serum levels of IL-1β and MGP are closely related to CVC in MHD patients, and both of them and dialysis age are the influencing factors of CVC in MHD patients. Clinical monitoring of these indicator can better assess patient′s condition.
