Abstract:Objective To investigate the characteristics of blood lipid in prediabetes in middle-aged and elderly population. Methods From January 2014 to December 2016 admitted to Department of Endocrinology of Beijing Aerospace Hospital in elderly patients with prediabetes of 270 cases as research objects. The relevant examination after admission was perfected. According to the blood glucose test results, all patients were divided into fasting glucose group (IFG) group (n=50), impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group (n=120) and IFG+IGT group (n=100). The blood lipid levels of 3 groups were measured. The patients were given corresponding treatment, for 3 consecutive years of follow-up after lipid levels, blood lipid levels and blood lipid among 3 groups and the prevalence of abnormal outcome after 3 years. Results There was no significant difference among 3 groups in the level of LDL-C before intervention (P > 0.05). TC, TG levels in IFG+IGT group were higher than those in IFG group and IGT group before intervention (P < 0.05). The levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) in IFG+IGT group and IGT group were lower than those in IFG group before intervention (P < 0.05). The incidence of hyperglycemia in IFG+IGT group was significantly higher than that in IFG group and IGT group before intervention (P < 0.05). The incidence of hyperglycemia in IGT group was significantly higher than that in IFG group before intervention (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the levels of TC, TG, HDL-C and LDL-C among three groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion In the middle-aged and elderly people, prediabetes is often associated with different levels of lipid metabolism abnormalities. The monitoring of TG levels can predict the changes of patients' condition, guide clinical treatment and improve the prognosis of patients.
