Status quo and developments of medical English-Chinese parallel corpus from perspective of ESP

Abstract：Against the background of the "Double First-Class" university project in China and the rapid development of corpus technologies, the construction of subject-specific corpuses has been an unstoppable trend, and the construction and study of medical English-Chinese parallel corpuses also need enhancing. This paper analyses the status quo of medical English-Chinese parallel corpuses, and mainly discusses the developments in their application to medical translation and writing as well as the improvement of their construction. As medical English-Chinese parallel corpuses can effectively help medical translation and writing in terms of both medical knowledge and language quality, it is necessary to enhance their construction, and build the corpuses annotated with disciplinary subdivision and medical knowledge.
