Investigation on anxiety status of young adults with pulmonary tuberculosis

Abstract:Objective To understand and analyze the anxiety status of young and middle-age patients with pulmonary tuberculosis initially treated, and to provide evidence for clinical nursing. Methods A total of 96 newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis patients aged 18-45 years old who were admitted to the Department of Tuberculosis, Beijing Chest Hospital, Capital Medical University, from March 1 to June 30, 2018, were selected as subjects, and through the form of questionnaires, the anxiety status was investigated with the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and the reasons were analyzed. Results The SAS anxiety scores of 96 newly diagnosed hospitalized young and middle-age patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were statistically significantly different from those in China (P < 0.01). The SAS anxiety scores of patients with self-paying was higher than that in patients with public medical care, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion The anxiety score of young and middle-age patients with pulmonary tuberculosis initially treated is higher than that of the national level. The frequent negative emotions can reduce the immunity and further worsen the disease, thus forming a vicious circle and delaying treatment, which should be paid attention to.
