Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of Xiaoer Yanbian Granules in treatment of upper respiratory tract infection complicated with febrile convulsion. Methods From January 2015 to January 2018, in Yichang First People's Hospital, 238 children with upper respiratory tract infection complicated with febrile convulsion were selected, according to random number table method, they were divided into control group and treatment group, with 119 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional therapy, the treatment group was treated with Xiaoer Yanbian Granules on the basis of conventional therapy, the two groups were treated for 3-7 d. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was evaluated and compared, the defervescence time, fading time of coughing, fading time of nasal obstruction and nasal discharge, the fading time of convulsion and the cases of convulsion recurrence in the two groups was recorded and compared, serum level of neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and S-100β protein were measured and compared between the two groups before and after treatment. The adverse reactions in the two groups were recorded and compared. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was higher than the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The defervescence time, the fading time of coughing, the fading time of nasal obstruction and nasal discharge, fading time of convulsion and the cases of convulsion recurrence in the treatment group were significantly less than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the serum NSE, S-100β level of the two groups were significantly lower than before treatment, and these in the treatment group were significantly lower than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). During the treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions in the treatment group was higher than the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Conclusion Xiaoer Yanbian Granules is effective in the treatment of upper respiratory tract infection complicated with febrile convulsion. It can shorten the duration of clinical symptoms and improve the brain injury of children, it is safe and worthy of clinical application.
