Abstract:Objective To explore the situation and risk factors of hospital infection in Department of Neonatology, Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College (“our hospital” for short) and clarify the direction of intervention. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted on newborns hospitalized in our hospital′s Department of Neonatology from January to December 2017. Researches were carried on for 12 times during the first week of each month, and 592 hospitalized children were enrolled. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze and screen the risk factors of nosocomial infection in neonatology. Results In 2017, there were 21 children with nosocomial infection totally in the Department of Neonatology, with an incidence of 3.53% (21/592), and no statistical differences were found in the infection rate among quarters or gender (P > 0.05). High birth weight (OR = 0.221) and full term gestational age (OR = 0.081) were protective factors for nosocomial infection of newborn (P < 0.05). Prolong of hospitalization (OR = 6.023), intravenous nutrition (OR = 2.290), respiratory distress syndrome (OR = 1.688), neonatal pneumonia (OR = 1.876) and neonatal hyperbilirubinemia (OR = 1.672) were risk factors for neonatal nosocomial infection (P < 0.05). Conclusion Low gestational age, low birth weight, long hospitalization and neonatal related diseases are the main risk factors for nosocomial infection in Department of Neonatology. In order to reduce the incidence of nosocomial infection the hospital should strengthen training on nosocomial infection, implement disinfection and isolation measures and so on.
