Abstract:Objective To explore the medication rules of TCM differentiation in the prevention and treatment of radiation esophagitis. Methods By searching for articles in three Chinese databases including China National Knowledge Internet (CNKI), VIP and Wanfang database from January 1990 to October 2017, 44 articles with TCM in the prevention and treatment of radiation esophagitis were screened out. The data on syndrome differentiation and prescription frequency in the articles was extracted and collated. Results The three most frequent syndromes in syndrome differentiation were “blazing heat-toxin”“yin depletion and consumption of body-fluid” and “blood stasis and heat accumulation”, accounting for 95.4%, 56.8% and 40.9%, respectively. The most frequent medications included “heat-clearing and detoxifying drug”, “nourishing yin and promoting the secretion of body-fluid drug” and “cooling blood and activating blood circulation drug”, accounting for 95.4%, 95.4% and 40.9%, respectively. Conclusion The main syndrome differentiation of TCM in radiation esophagitis includes “excessive heat and toxin” and “yin depletion and consumption of body-fluid”. In the late stage of radiation, blood stasis syndrome may occurs. Heat-clearing and detoxifying, nourishing yin and promoting the secretion of body-fluid and cooling blood and activating blood circulation drugs are mainly used in the treatment.
