Research progress of apoptosis mechanism of tumor cells induced by bufotalin

Abstract:Bufotalin is a compound extracted from the venom of toad, which belongs to bufadienolide. It not only has the effects of antiarrhythmic, stronging heart, antibacterial, local anaesthesia, antipyrexia and diuresis and so on, but also has a good inhibitory effect on many solid and nonsolid tumors. The mechanism of apoptosis induced by bufotalin is mainly related to mitochondrial pathway, death receptor pathway and endoplasmic reticulum stress. In this paper, we review the molecular mechanism of bufotalin inducing tumor cell apoptosis.
