Influences of full-time nursing intervention on the psychological status and complications in patients with sinusitis and nasal polyps underwent endoscopic sinus surgery

Abstract：Objective To investigate the influences of full-time nursing intervention on the psychological status and complications in patients with sinusitis and nasal polyps underwent endoscopic sinus surgery. Methods From June 2015 to January 2017, 104 cases of patients with sinusitis and nasal polyps treated in Chinese PLA General Hospital were selected as the research objects and divided into the observation group and the control group by random number table, with 52 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing intervention and the observation group was given full-time nursing intervention on the basis of control group. At the time of 24 h admission and 1 week postoperative, the psychological status of the patients were evaluated by the symptom checklist-90 (SCL-90) and the self-rating depression scale (SDS), the incidence of complications was compared between the two groups. Results At the time of 24 h admission, there were no significant differences in the scores of SCL-90 and SDS between the two groups (P ＞ 0.05). There were no significant differences in the scores of psychological factors in the control group at the adimission time and at the time of 1 week after operation, but the factors above were all decreased in the observation group and all lower than those of control group, with statistically significant differences(all P ＜ 0.05). One week after operation, the scores of SDS in the two groups were all decreased and the observation group decreased more remarkably, with statistically significant differences (P ＞ 0.05). The incidence of complications in the observation group was lower than that of control group, with statistically significant differences (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion Full-time nursing can effectively alleviate the negative emotions in patients with sinusitis and nasal polyps underwent endoscopic sinus surgery, reduce the the incidence of complicatons. It is worthy of promotion and application.
