The effect of evidence-based nursing on nursing satisfaction and quality of life in elderly patients underwent chemotherapy after colon cancer surgery

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of evidence-based nursing on nursing satisfaction and quality of life in elderly patients underwent chemotherapy after colon cancer surgery. Methods Ninety cases of elderly patients underwent chemotherapy after colon cancer surgery from April 2015 to April 2017 treated in Shengjing Hospital of Chinese Medical University were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group by different nursing method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing and the observation group was given evidence-based nursing. Both groups were given continuous care for 2 months. The nursing satisfaction and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results The nursing satisfaction in observation group was higher than that of control group, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). After nursing, the scores of physical function, role function, cognitive function, emotional function and social function were all higher than those of before nursing, and those in observation group were all higher than those of control group, with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05) Conclusion Evidence-based nursing can improve the nursing satisfaction in elderly patients underwent chemotherapy after colon cancer surgery, promote the quality of life. It is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
