Relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio and monocyte count with advanced malignant tumor

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte (MONO) count and advanced tumor. Methods Clinical data of 193 hospitalized patients in Wuhan Third Hospital from January 2015 to January 2016 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into cancer group (102 cases) and non-tumor control group (91 cases), at the same time, the tumor group was divided into stable condition group (53 cases) andcritically ill group (49 cases) according to KPS score. The relationship between monocyte and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and advanced tumor was analyzed. Results The levels of MONO and NLR in the tumor group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P < 0.01). The NLR level in the stable group was lower than that in the severe risk group (P < 0.05), there was no significant difference in MONO between the two groups (P > 0.05). High levels of MONO and NLR were the risk factors for tumorigenesis [OR = 0.072, 95%CI = 0.012-0.43, P = 0.004; OR = 0.389, 95%CI = 10.212-0.712, P = 0.002], the area of ROC curve of NLR, MONO values in prediction of tumorigenesis were 0.787, 0.629. Conclusion The increase of MONO and NLR is significantly correlated with tumorigenesis.
