Abstract：Objective To investigate and analyze the off-label use of Caffeine Citrate Injection among inpatients in Neonatology Department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University (“our hospital” for short), to provide reference for rational use of medicine in clinic. Methods The medical records of hospitalized children who received Caffeine Citrate Injection in Neonatology Department of our hospital from January to December 2017 were randomly selected to analyze the off-label use of Caffeine Citrate Injection. Results A total of 253 medical records of hospitalized children were taken, it was found that the off-label use of Caffeine Citrate Injection was common, the main manifestations were over indication, over-applicable population, inconsistence of usage, dosage and medication course of treatment with the instructions. Conclusion It is necessary to pay close attention to the situation of the off-label use in clinical medication, carry out intervention and feedback timely, and gradually standardize the behavior of the off-label use in clinical medication, so as to promote rational drug use.
