Abstract:Objective To investigate the serotype distribution and antimicrobia1 resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated from clinical specimens in Xindu District of Chengdu City, in order to provide evidence for the vaccine application and rational use of antimicrobial agents in clinic. Methods Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated from clinical specimens of People's Hospital of Xindu District in Chengdu City from January 2014 to December 2015 were collected. Capsule swelling test was used for serotype analysis. ATB Expression drug sensitivity analysis system of Biomerieux was used for antibiotic sensitivity test. Results 62 strains and 14 type of Streptococcus pneumoniae isolated through the capsule swelling test, mainly included 19A (32.3%), 19F (25.8%), 6B (12.9%), 23F (8.1%), 9V (4.8%), 4 (4.8%), accounted for 87.1% (54/62) of all typed bacteria. The coverage of these serotypes was 87.1% by PCV7,100% by PPV23. Drug sensitivity test showed these bacteria had high sensitive rates to Vancomycin, Levofloxacin, Dalfopristin, Cefotaxime, Chloramphenicol, Penicillin and Amoxicillin, which had high resistance rates to Erythromycin, Sulfamethoxazole, Clindamycin, Tetracycline. Conclusion The main epidemic serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae are 19A, 19F, 6B, 23F, 9V, 4 in Xindu District of Chengdu City. The PCV7 vaccine coverage is high, while PPV23 covers all serotypes, indicating its appropriateness for vaccination. Antibiotics should be used rationally according to drug sensitivity results, in order to prevent the spread of drug-resistant strains
