Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of WeChat health education on the compliance and outcome of inhaled corticosteroid treatment in children with asthma. Methods A total of 112 children with moderate bronchial asthma in Outpatient Department of Pediatrics of the First People's Hospital of Yibin from March 2015 to May 2017 were selected as research objects. All patients were divided into observation group and control group by random number table, with 56 cases in each group. The control group received routine education, the observation group was given WeChat health education on the basis of the control group. After intervention for 12 weeks, the inhaled corticosteroid compliance, asthma control level and lung function [including forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), peak expiratory flow (PEF), 25% forced expiratory flow (FEF25%), 50% forced expiratory flow (FEF50%), 75% forced expiratory flow (FEF75%)] were compared between the two groups. Results After 12 weeks intervention, the inhaled corticosteroid compliance in the observation group was higher than the control group, the asthma control level was better than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). The indicators of lung function in the observation group were all higher than those before intervention (all P < 0.05); there were no statistically significant differences on all indicators of lung function before and after intervention in the control group (P > 0.05); after intervention, the indicators of lung function in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, there were statistically significant differences (all P < 0.05). Conclusion The intervention of WeChat health education on children with asthma can promote the compliance of corticosteroid inhalation treatment, improve the level of asthma control and the lung function.
