Abstract:Objective To investigate the improved effect of acupuncture on the uric acid metabolism(UA) in the patients with hyperuricemia. Methods Sixty patients with hyperuricemia treated in the Nephrology Clinic and Acupuncture Clinic of Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2015 to December 2016 were chosen. According to the random number table method, the patients were divided into control group and treatment group, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were given basic treatment: low purine diet, abstaining from alcohol, proper exercises, and taking more water to keep urine volume at 2000-3000 mL per day, which was useful for UA excretion. On basis of basic treatment, the treatment group was given acupuncture on bilateral píshù, shènshù, zúsānlǐ, sānyīnjiāo, yīnlíngquán, fēnglóng, three times a week, once 30 min. One month was as a course, total for 2 courses. The clinical efficacy and the level changes of UA, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr) before and after treatment in the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment group was 93.33%, which was higher than that of control group (46.67%), the difference was statistically signficant (P < 0.05). After treatment, the level of UA in the treatment group was lower than that before treatment (P < 0.05), while BUN, Cr had no statistically signficant differences compared with those before treatment (P > 0.05). The level of UA after treatment in the treatment group was lower than that of control group (P < 0.05), while there were no statistically signficant differences of BUN, Cr between the two groups after treatment (P > 0.05). Conclusion The acupuncture can reduce the patients' UA metabolism, protect the renal function, so as to treat hyperuricemia.
