Clinical effect of needle knife in the treatment of elbow spasm at the stage of stroke recovery

Abstract:Objective To observe the clinical effect of needle knife in the treatment of elbow spasm at the stage of stroke recovery. Methods The inpatients diagnosed as elbow spasm at the stage of stroke recovery in Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Rehabilitation, Guangdong Second Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from December 2016 to January 2018 were selected. 90 patients met with the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups by completely random grouping method, with 45 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with needle knife (once a week), while the control group was treated with acupuncture penetration muscle antagonist therapy (6 times a week, rest on Sunday). The spasm classification conditions of modified Ashworth scales before and after treatment and the clinical efficacy of the two groups were observed. Results After treatment, the spasm classification of modified Ashworth scales of the two groups were all better than those before treatment, the differences were all statistically significant (all P < 0.05). The total effective rate of treatment group was 88.89%, which of control group was 73.33%, the cure rate of treatment group was 26.67%, which of control group was 4.44%, there were all significant differences between the two groups (all P < 0.05). Conclusion The clinical effects of needle knife in the treatment of elbow spasm at the stage of stroke recovery have obvious advantage.
