Abstract:Objective To evaluate the value of spiral CT combined with serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and a disintegrin and metalloprotease 8 (ADAM8) in the clinical diagnosis of elderly patients with lung cancer. Methods A total of 72 elderly patients with lung cancer admitted in Hainan Provincial People′s Hospital (for short “our hospital”) from January to December in 2016 were selected as the study group, and 40 patients with benign pulmonary disease and 40 healthy subjects in our hospital were selected as the control in the same period. All the researchers were underwent CT scan and the serum CEA and ADAM8 were measured. The histopathological results were as the gold standard, the value of single and combined detection indexes for the diagnosis of lung cancer were determined. Results The levels of serum CEA and ADAM8 in lung cancer patients were significantly higher than those in benign lung disease group and healthy control group (P < 0.05); and the levels of CEA and ADAM8 in lung cancer patients with stage Ⅲ/Ⅳ were significantly higher than those in patients with stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ (P < 0.05). The sensitivity of CT, CEA and ADAM8 was 68.06%, 48.61% and 70.83% respectively, the specificity was 90.00%, 75.00% and 86.25% respectively, and the accuracy was 79.61%, 62.50% and 78.95% respectively. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of three indicators combined detection were 83.33%, 93.75% and 88.82% respectively, which were higher than single detection. Conclusion CEA has a low detection rate of lung cancer patients and is prone to false positive, but it can improve the accuracy of lung cancer detection after combined with CT and ADAM8.
