Abstract:Objective To investigate the application of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in patients during the perioperative period in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University (“our hospital” for short), analyze the irrational phenomenon, in order to provide reference for rational drug use. Methods 259 patients during the perioperative period used PPIs were chosen from July 2016 to January 2017 in several departments of our hospital, and their PPIs application situation were analyzed. Results All the PPIs were given by intravenous administration. 165 (63.7%) cases had no risk of stress ulcer. 137 cases (52.9%) had irrational of drug frequency. The average duration was 4.59 d. The consumption sum of PPIs accounted for 5.63% of the total drug consumption sum and 1.98% of the total hopspitalization cost, among which, the consumption sum of PPIs in patients with no risk factors for stress ulcer accounted for 47.7% of the total consumption sum for PPIs. Conclusion There is high rate of irrational perioperative use of PPIs in our hospital, including irrational of drug frequency and duration. More powerful management should be given, in order to regulate the use of PPIs.
