Abstract:Objective To compare the effect of single-row simple mattres suture and single-row modified Mason-Allen technique under arthroscopy in the treatment of small and medium rotator cuff injuries. Methods Twenty-eight patients with small and medium tearing injuries of the rotator cuff treated with arthroscopic surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Wannan Medical College from January 2014 to May 2017 were selected as the research object and divided into the single-row simple mattres suture group (13 cases, group A) and the single-row modified Mason-Allen technique group (15 cases, group B) by different treatment. The shoulder function was evaluated by ultrasonography for retearing rate, satisfaction rate, the scores of UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles, UCLA scoring system), Constant-Murley and visual analogue scale (VAS). Results All the patients were followed up and the time ranged from 6 to 24 months. There were no statistically significant differences in retearing rate, scores of UCLA, Constant-Murley and VAS before operation and at the last follow up (P > 0.05); but the scores of Constant-Murley and VAS in the two groups at the last follow up were all significant higher than those of before operation, the score of VAS was significant lower than that before operation, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After operation, the satisfaction rate in the group B was higher than that of group A, with statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion Single-row simple mattres suture and single-row modified Mason-Allen technique are both clinically effective for shoulder function recovery, but the modified Mason-Allen technique may have better healing quality.
