Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of Tongyuan needling technique in the treatment of essential hypertension. Methods Sixty cases of patients with essential hypertension treated in Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Guangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2015 to December 2017 were selected, and they were divided into observation group (30 cases) and control group (30 cases) by random number table method. The observation group was treated with Tongyuan needling technique, twice a week, for 8 weeks; the control group was treated with oral Nifedipine Controlled Released Tablets 30 mg, once a day, for 8 weeks. The clinical blood pressure and adverse reactions of the two groups were recorded. Results The systolic and diastolic blood pressures of the two groups were all significantly lower than those before treatment (P < 0.05), but the systolic and diastolic blood pressures after treatment between the two groups had no statistically significant difference (P > 0.05). The total effective rate of observation group and control group was 96.67% and 86.67% respectively, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group and the control group was 3.3% and 23.33% respectively, there was a significant difference (P < 0.05). Conclusion Tongyuan needling technique in the treatment of essential hypertension is effective, with few adverse reactions and high security.
