Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of titanium binding belt combined with hip replacement in the treatment of elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures. Methods A total of 80 patients with intertrochanteric fracture of femur from December 2012 to November 2015 in Chongqing Three Gorges Central Hospital were selected and they were divided into test group (n = 40, titanium binding band) and control group (n = 40, steel wire loop strapping) by random number table method. Followed up for 18 months, Johner-wruh scores, Harris scores, visual analogue scale (VAS) and incidence of complications of the two groups were compared. Results The average operation time, intraoperative blood loss, average hospitalization time and average ambulation time in the test group were significantly better than those in the control group (P < 0.01). Harris scores and VAS scores at each time point after operation in both groups were better than those before operation (P < 0.01), and the scores after operation for 3-18 months in the test group were significantly better than those in the control group (P < 0.01). The overall fracture healing rate in the test group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.01). There were 7 cases with complications in the control group (4 cases of peripheral osteosclerosis and 3 cases of loosening spondylolisthesis). There were no other serious complications in the two groups. And the incidence of complications in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion The long-term and short-term effects of Titanium bandage combined with hip replacement in the treatment of elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures are good, which has clinical application value.
