Abstract:With the development of the information technology in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry, the demand of information human resource in TCM is increasing. The information management (IM) major in TCM university should give the students a higher-quality development. The IM majors in TCM universities have different fundamentals, education directions and strategies. Many universities pay less attention to the practice education and comprehensive quality development towards the job demand, so the gap between the human resource demand and university education is coming up. This paper analyzes the problems in the education of IM majors in universities of TCM, and has investigated 27 employers of the graduated students of IM major in Shandong University of TCM to build a competency model and refined the competency elements from 5 aspects of professional knowledge, application ability, team capacity, self-development ability and stress management. Based on this model, this paper discusses the students development strategy as below: emphasizing multidisciplinary cross connection and process teaching, innovating teaching organization, and developing non-intellectual factors.
